Blush Layering 101 featuring our Cotton Candy Skies and Sunset Dreams Blush Trios

Hey, Beauties!

Let’s talk about blush layering.

That's right, this is your guide on how to layer your blush! There are several ways of doing this; you can layer different types of finishes, for example, cream blush, pressed blush, and a shimmer blush (we call them Blushlighters).

You can also layer different color blushes for example a deep, a medium, and a lighter blush, or you can layer different colors to get a beautiful gradient on the apples of your cheeks.

We're going to talk about layering with different finishes that are in the same color story.
Before I start, I want to show you the product that I'm using. It's our latest launch and they are all-new midi palettes in two different color stories, Sunset Dreams and Cotton Candy Skies.

Cotton Candy Skies, our brand new pink blush palette, is filled with cream, pressed, and our liquid-to-baked formula. The extremely buttery and blendable formula allows for these blushes to layer seamlessly.

Sunset Dreams, the perfect orange blush palette, is great for creating an amazing glowy finish on the skin and it also comes in the same three finishes. These are perfect to wear on their own or layered like we're going to do today.

You can do blush layering on a full face of makeup, a clean makeup look, or even on bare skin. It's completely up to you and your preference.

Blush layering can be a tad bit intimidating because you might be afraid that you'll end up adding too much product, but the key here is: how much product you deposit on your brush or sponge and to blend blend blend.

How to:

How to

For the type of layering that I'll be doing you want to start with the cream product that way you can set it with the powder product on top.

I'm going to take a Perfecting Puff (our amazing sponge) to apply the cream product by dipping in and then dabbing the excess off on the back of my hand. Then apply it to your cheeks and blend it with a sponge to get a soft flush of color.

Next, you want to take your press powder, this is going to set the cream products and also add a little hint of color and it'll make it long-lasting as well. I'm going to use a blush brush and only put the product on the tip of the brush and tap off any excess and then apply it to the cheeks over the cream product and blend.

To finish my layering process I'm going to use the shimmer blush (Blushlighter). You can use this color on its own, but when you apply it on top of the other two products, it helps to blend all three seamlessly, and you leave you with a radiant glow. I'm going to use a blush brush again and tap off the excess, and apply it in the same spot, but a little bit higher closer to the cheekbone.

*Pro tip: You can always add a little bit of blush to your inner corner or the outer corner of your eyes to blend your eyeshadow color and your blush color together to create a seamless look.

Just like that, you just layered blush like a pro.

I hope that you find these tips helpful in creating your best blush look yet. We’d love to see your blush looks using the Cotton Candy Skies and Sunset Dreams palettes. Be sure to tag us and use #OFRABeauties for a chance to be featured!
