5 BENEFITS OF VITAMIN C FOR YOUR SKIN

Vitamin C has become a staple in many skincare products and I’m sure many of you have heard claims that Vitamin C is great for your skin (and it is!), but you’re not quite sure why? Or maybe you want to start doing some good for your skin and don't know where to start? Check out this guide to Vitamin C and see where this miracle ingredient fits into your skin care routine.

How Can Vitamin C Help Your Skin?

No matter your skin type, Vitamin C will be a blessing. It can tackle a host of concerns that you might be struggling with while still being gentle on the skin. When added to your skin care routine, these are some of the benefits you’ll see in the near future (Results take time!):

1. Diminish Discoloration

Been hitting the beach lately? Going for long runs at Noon? Trying your hand at an herb garden? If you’re looking to reduce the appearance of hyperpigmentation (pesky dark spots)  due to sun exposure, Vitamin C will slowly bring back your skin to its natural color thanks to powerful antioxidants working their magic on your skin!

2. Achieve Brighter and Healthier Skin

Because Vitamin C can diminish discoloration, it can also help you obtain overall brighter skin by lightening brown and red spots allowing your skin to appear healthy and luminous. Vitamin C also gently wipes away dirt, oil, and skin impurities which will uncover a glowy complexion.

3. Minimize Inflammation and Irritation

Many of you might not realize that even after acne heals, exposing your skin to the sun will cause those spots to darken thus taking longer for them to disappear. If you are struggling with inflammation and irritation due to acne or rosacea, add Vitamin C to your skincare routine. It will not only help you with current breakouts but also with preventing future breakouts while soothing your skin.

4. Reduce and Prevent Fine Lines and Wrinkles

Collagen is a protein that keeps skin firm and elastic by binding cells together, and YES, its found in Vitamin C! While it may not erase fine lines and wrinkles, it will help you to reduce and prevent them in the future while maintaining your skin firmness and volume.

5. Protect Skin Against Sun Damage

Sun protection is a step that should not be skipped as UV exposure can quickly speed up the aging process! Although Vitamin C alone will not protect you from UVA, UVB, and even HEV rays (the blue rays of light emitted from electronics), it will protect you from potentially damaged skin. Tip: Use SPF as part of your skincare routine on top of your Vitamin C infused products.

Product Recommendations

Not all products are created equal, many contain a different percentage of Vitamin C. Here are some OFRA Favorites infused with Vitamin C. Make sure to click on the names of the products to find out extra details to help you make a decision on what could work for you best! Tip: If you have dry skin, use lower percentages of Vitamin C to prevent redness.
